July 4th Picnic and Kid's Parade

Come on out to the annual Duke Park July 4 picnic and kids parade. DPNA will provide cold non-alcoholic drinks (no booze in the park) and grill hot dogs and provide paper goods. You bring a side dish. Grilling starts around 11am, short parade at Noon.

Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association 11th Annual Beaver Queen Pageant

Durham, NC – The 11th Annual Beaver Queen Pageant, a free and fun event, will be held on Saturday, June 6 in the meadow at Duke Park (Acadia at Knox Street). Pre pageant activities will begin at 4pm, and the pageant will start at 5pm. The theme for this year’s pageant is "Beavers do Bollywood!"

2014 Rock the Park Concert and Movie Series

Durham Parks and Recreation is offering a summer series that includes concerts and movies in a beautiful setting - Durham's parks.

Sit back, relax and enjoy family and friends while grooving to music. Concerts are held from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
 
Activities are free and open to the public. Food vendors will be available.

Fun at the Park on July 4, 11 to 1

Potluck lunch and informal kids parade at Duke Park shelter on Friday, July 4 from 11am to 1pm. Duke Park and Old North Durham neighbors are invited. Parade will take place around noon. 

Parks and Rec Survey On Conversion of Bathhouse Into Pavilion

DP&R held a forum at the Park June 25 on the proposed conversion of the old bath house into a pavilion. This is getting serious; the City has architects and landscape designers working on plans. If you missed the meeting and would like to express your wishes, Parks & Rec created the attached survey. Drop it off at DP&R downtown or email it to Beth.Timson@durhamnc.gov.

Neighborhood Yard Sale - May 17

Ok - here's the skinny on the yard sale:  May 17 8-12pm.  You hold your sale at your house and the sale will be advertised as neighborhood wide.  Maps will be created noting each of your locations. All houses having sales will have copies of the maps to give out to shoppers.

Thanksgiving In Spring

This place making event celebrates the uniqueness and fun of Durham and includes many of the things we love; food, community, bikes, and (new this year) lantern making, and the event’s finale, from 8 to 10pm, Illuminate Durham. Last year, approximately 700 people came to the 3/4 mile long dinner table. The City Urban Innovation Office is leading the event.    

Events this year will take place around the Farmers Market and on Roney Street behind it. Highlights will be a bike parade from 2 to 3 and a community potluck from 3 to 6.
